Syrian Arab Airlines have received the first ATR plane

On Tuesday13/04/2010 the first French aircraft ATR 72-500 Which was bought by Syrian Arab Airlines from the French company FADS has arrived at Damascus.
Ms. Ghaida Abdel Latif, General Director of Syrian Arab Airlines accompanied by the technical committee members were onboard when the aircraft arrived Damascus airport from Toulouse.
These two aircrafts have been programmed for domestic routes and regional nearby.
The second ATR aircraft, expected to arrive in Damascus on Friday or Saturday.
The two aircraft are being painted in Syria before the airline enters them to service before the end April.
ATR had two aircraft that had been canceled by another customer and as the aircraft – and its component parts- had not been built or modified for sale to Syria, then the aircraft are understood to have passed the necessary requirements to avoid the sanctions.Syrian Air ATR72-500
